Man vs Wild 2

We planned to go to Poring today to loosen our aching muscles. Went to pick up Andy at 11 am. Jiel followed as well.

Poring hot springs.

There is a hanging rope bridge there.

Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints.

Cute lizard. Never seen one with such a big belly.

Poring wasn't all about hot springs, even though it's famous for it's hot springs. There's also a swimming pool and a park (er.. I mean park as in something like a national park, not the ones where you go to jog or walk your dog). Well I thought it was all hot water dipping all day long, but it turned out that they had other ideas: A 2 hour hike to Langganan Waterfall.

The other attractions found at Poring.

Wow.. Rafflesia Research Center

Safety precautions: Do not go there after 2pm.

It was a long hard road. A lot of twist and turns and climbing up and down. Really not the best activity to do the day after rock climbing in Mamut. I didn't really care much about how beautiful he surroundings was, because I have gone to such places all my life that it all looks kinda normal to me. Although there were some interesting scenes. We reached Kipungit waterfall first, which was like, 300 metres away from the hotsprings. There were a lot of people bathing there. There was also a bad cave, but it wasn't much.

Welcome to Kipungit Recreation Area.

Kipungit Waterfall

Gua Kelawar (Bat Caves)

After 2 hours of rigorous hiking (3.4km), we finally reaches our destination. It was really hard just getting there and the thought of going back via the same round (there's only one way to and from the waterfall) was a dread. We were practically just thinking of reaching the destination as soon as possible instead of looking at the scenery. It was a real relieve to reach the waterfall, and the view was really beautiful, although not as breathtaking as the view of Mamut Lake.

Langganan Waterfall... Easily 10 storeys high.

Our journey back from the waterfall wasn't too long. It just took us a little more than an hour, and that's because we practically raced down the hill and took dangerous shortcuts. Went to the swimming pool after that. My legs was too tired to swim, so I didn't quite enjoy my time at the pool. Although I did attempt to do a somersault in the 8 feet pool ( been a few years since I last attempted one). Succeeded after my second try, but could only make one round >.<

Jiel taught Daniel how to dive into the water. No success though. It's pretty hard to do that (I can't dive into the water as well, despite being trained for competitive swimming eight to nine years ago) so it's natural to not be able to do it so fast. After that, it was soaking time :D

I didn't take any photos at the hot springs, but the hot springs isn't like the hot springs you see in Japanese shows, where they bathe in rock pools, or the hot springs in Perak where it's like a swimming pool. The hot springs here are self service: There's a small pond about 1 metre deep which you have to fill up. Water can only go up to 50 cm though, because there is a hole that drains the water if it exceeds that height. There are two taps, one hot and the other cold, so you can set the water to suit your preferences.

We soaked til it was dark (Around 6:45 pm) before deciding to go back. Loved the hot springs. Well, tomorrow is Thursday, and Safhrenis says she's going back to Kudat. Might decide to go over. Haven't gone there yet lol.

Uploader is kinda inconsistent. Sometimes fast and sometimes slow. Would take time to finish uploading everything.
